My advice- don't run around in public with realistic looking weapons- it is a bad idea wether they're real or not, trust me.

i've had the police burst into a room at a public library where we were filming WITH permission. they were really cool, they made a (slight) fool of the librarian who called them on us and then went away [img]smile.gif[/img] we were lucky, they could have shot us if we'd been in the middle of a scene when they came in.
At my old high school, we were at this party and there was like a small ruckus. The police came and shot this kid becuase his watch glinted as he raised it and they thought it was a gun.
Oh yeah? Me and some kids at my old school once got busted for staging a bank robbery. Beat that.
Anyone know the laws in the u.s. regarding filming with guns.
They have a history of killing kids with toy guns here in the U.S.
thanks to the idiots who make up UK law, it seems that blank firing weapons are now also illegal, so another good way of having realistic guns on camera has been removed. annoying, as i was going to pick one up, but now most places won't sell em (naturally). if i did own one, there's no way i'd hand it in, its a joke of a law.
the official reason is they can be modified to shooting live bullets (which i really wouldn't recommend.. ) . better hand my baseball bat in, as it can be modified into a head smashing device very easily too. sigh.
Best way of doing it is to flood the local area with leaflets or flyers explaining what's going on before you do the shoot (Ha! A pun in itself!)... that way, people seeing a bunch of people running about know it's a film being made, and won't call the cops!
Of course, it doesn't help if someone decides to run about shooting people with a REAL gun at the same time.....
I maybe suggest using a Pellet or BB gun... they look realistic, don't make loud bangs and can be set up to do the bangs in post...
